Ciudad de Guatemala | Guatemala

From November 3 to December 10, the Alliance Française of Guatemala presents the exhibition Digital Art, Digital Culture by Houda Bakkali. The exhibition integrates physical and digital works in which the use of augmented reality, animation, and interactive elements predominates, proposing an exhibition format that allows the public to explore new forms of artistic interaction and interpretation.

The exhibition is complemented by a virtual gallery, multimedia content, and informative and educational resources aimed at contextualizing digital art, its applications, uses, and main challenges within the contemporary cultural landscape. The project is developed within the framework of Digital November, an initiative promoted internationally by the French Institute to foster digital art and culture.

Through the convergence of physical media and digital technologies, the exhibition examines the potential of the combination of creativity and digital tools to expand the limits of the traditional exhibition space, promoting access, learning, and cultural exchange among diverse audiences, beyond spatial, temporal, or generational barriers.

The use of technologies such as augmented reality, virtual environments, and multimedia resources strengthens communication between the artwork, the exhibition space, and the public. This approach fosters a participatory and bidirectional experience in which visitor interaction becomes a key element in the process of cultural and educational exchange.

The exhibition highlights the female figure and perspective, in tribute to the artist’s mother. Through the use of intense colors, dynamic forms, and an intersection between illustration and voluptuous flowers, it seeks to convey a joyful, hopeful, and optimistic vision of life.

Art and Educational Outreach

On the occasion of the exhibition “Digital Art, Digital Culture” by Houda Bakkali, the Alliance Française of Guatemala City has created two commemorative booklets specially designed for this event, through which younger students and teenagers of the Alliance Française can discover the artist’s work, its characteristics, and its values through an original variety of educational and playful activities.

The initiative highlights the value of art, culture, and pedagogy through the French language, bringing children and teenagers closer to art and creativity in all their forms.
