Alliance Française of Guanajuato will host Houda Bakkali’s exhibition “Digital Art, Digital Culture.” The exhibition will be open to the public from October 3, coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, until December 18, 2026.
In this exhibition, art and technology come together to highlight health communication in the fight against breast cancer. Bakkali thus presents her creative concept, in which the artwork becomes the first interface for medical knowledge to encourage prevention and awareness, while technology acts as a driving force to expand that knowledge, breaking down barriers of space and time and allowing the artwork to circulate among different audiences and venues.
At the Alliance Française of Guanajuato, the public will be able to see both versions of Bakkali’s “Art for Health.” The 2024 version, recognized by American Illustration in New York, and the 2025 version, exhibited in various shows and educational workshops at different Alliances Françaises, including those in Auckland (New Zealand), Newcastle (Australia), Valdivia (Chile), Piura and Trujillo (Peru), Bogotá (Colombia), Cochabamba (Bolivia), among others.
A distinguishing value that takes art beyond its aesthetic dimension and technology beyond its use to create playful spaces, providing social value and opening spaces for debate and learning about new models for health communication, a field in which Houda Bakkali has worked since 2009.
“In this exhibition, I invite the public to enjoy an accessible immersive and interactive experience, easy to understand and share, focused on the real value that the combination of art and technology can offer beyond trends and slogans, with an eye on health communication, on the value and impact it can have on society, and on conveying a method that enables the dissemination of information and participation in topics of interest to everyone. The public does not receive a health brochure; they are not passive spectators of a painting or an abstract performance about medical content. Instead, I invite them to discover the artwork’s layers of information, interact with them, and learn what advantages this type of proposal can offer for the dissemination of medical and scientific knowledge, to raise awareness and create an empathetic, reflective and useful experience, considering the challenges and opportunities beyond the visual impact. Technology used with good judgment can contribute to the most human of all sciences: Medicine. Let us approach its use from a creative, realistic and prudent perspective,” says Bakkali.
In addition to this innovative proposal bringing together immersive and interactive art and public health, the exhibition will show several works by Bakkali, including her new series “Passion Bleue, Passion Rouge.” It will also feature educational resources, a virtual gallery, and a workshop organized by the Alliance Française of Guanajuato in which Bakkali will examine the creative processes and tools of immersive art beyond the cultural sphere, addressing the challenges and opportunities for artists and institutions in sectors such as education, tourism and medicine.
