Art, Technology and Global Culture: Houda Bakkali’s Journey Across 25 Countries
Since April 2, 2024, Houda Bakkali has been developing her project “Digital Art, Digital Culture” across different venues of the Alliance Française, the legendary cultural and educational network — the oldest in the world — founded in Paris in 1883 by figures such as Jules Verne, Louis Pasteur and Ferdinand de Lesseps, with the mission of promoting Francophone cultures, education, intercultural dialogue and diversity.
In this framework, she has had the opportunity to exhibit her work and artistic practice in 43 cities across 25 countries and 5 continents over the past two years, both within the institution’s exhibition spaces and in exhibitions held at embassies, media libraries, shopping centers, universities and cultural festivals.
Highlights include her exhibitions in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Jeddah, throughout the Alliance Française network in Ecuador, as well as at academic institutions such as Colegio Champal (Villahermosa, México), Discovery School (Cuernavaca, México), University Antenor Orrego, University of Piura (Perú), Dirección de Vinculación con el Medio de la Universidad Austral (Valdivia, Chile), Colegio Laico de Valdivia (Chile), the Terrapuerto de Trujillo (Perú), the “Glitch Night” event in Cali, (Colombia), the cultural and music festival Sofar Kampala in Uganda, the Digital November at Al Riwaq (Bahrain), among others.
In parallel, Bakkali has delivered masterclasses and theoretical-practical workshops at different Alliance Française venues centered on the challenges and opportunities of digital art, with special attention to the intersection of art and technology as a driving force for the dissemination of art, culture and science.
