Led by Houda Bakkali

Organized by Alliance Française de Xela

Date: September 30, 2026 | Time: 10 to 11 am | Duration: 1 hour | Format: Online

Description

In this session, organized by the Alliance Française de Xela and aimed at students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Production and Cinematic Arts at Universidad Mesoamericana in Quetzaltenango (UMES), Houda Bakkali will draw on her experience and creative process to analyze the impact of the intersection of art and immersive technologies on audiovisual production, assessing the opportunities they offer professionals in the audiovisual sector in fields such as culture, education, tourism, and medicine, examining their evolution and usefulness beyond narrative and aesthetics, with a focus on the potential of this combination as an educational,

communication and marketing tool capable of breaking down spatial, temporal, and generational barriers.

Challenges such as digital literacy, accessibility, and technological obsolescence, as well as the decentralization and cross-disciplinary nature of the online ecosystem and the role the artist assumes within this digital ecosystem, will also be analyzed.

The workshop concludes with examples of creative processes and tools specific to augmented reality and virtual reality, as well as their transformative potential and risks.
